Parish Pastoral Council
Mission Statement
To nurture our Christian community where everyone is welcome and have a sense of belonging. To be responsible for guiding the future development and well being of our faith community. To explore new ways of doing things and be a support and service to all parish groups.
What is the pastoral council?
Pastoral councils are made up of elected and/or appointed representatives from the parish community. It is their role to develop and implement a pastoral plan which meets the needs of the parish. The pastoral council is chaired by a lay person and the priest is president of the group. The Pastoral Council is an advisory body to the priest, however, under normal circumstances the decisions made are with the consensus of the group.
Purpose of the Pastoral Council:
The purpose of the Council is to enable the involvement of parishioners in the care of their own parish, by fostering the sacramental, liturgical and social life of the parish.
It is our wish that through the whole area of communication, service and outreach we will discern the needs of the parish and in so doing, build up a vibrant Christian community.
